Final beta version (we hope!)

April 21st, 2009

Over the last few weeks we have worked hard to get the bugs out of the app. Thank you to all the beta testers who have provided us with such great feedback.

Please delete any old versions and try this new one:

OTA download if you are using your blackberry:
http://www.cardkaller.com/downloads/CardKaller.jad

Desktop download:
http://www.cardkaller.com/download/cardkaller-trial.zip

Let us know what you think.

And of course, email us with your blackberry pins to receive your unlock code. Codes already issued will work for this and future versions.

Beta trial extended

April 4th, 2009

We’ve extended the beta trial a bit longer to finish working out the bugs. So keep testing and sending us your comments. And don’t forget to send your BlackBerry pin number to get your free unlock code.

Here’s what we’re still working on:

  • Navigation issues (inability to see cursor) on Bold (9000), Curve (8900), Storm and 8820 devices
  • 8900 curve users are getting this error when they try and make a call from the address book: “pleasecalltechsupport java lang string”
  • On some devices, when trying to call directly from the phone app (type in a number, hit blackberry key, choose ‘cardkaller call’) user receives the following error message: “pleasecalltechsupport java lang string”
  • Dialing problems on some devices / os. App dials 20-40 characters and call does not complete
  • If there is only one card, the app should use it by default and not ask the user to choose a card when making a call.
  • A few other bugs

Google voice dialer

March 18th, 2009

We have received overwhelming feedback from users who are using CardKaller to make Google Voice calls.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Install CardKaller from our downloads page
  2. Go to Add a card
  3. Name the card
  4. Access number: Your Google Voice Number
  5. Number of pauses: 1
  6. Card number: 2
  7. Number of pauses: 1
  8. Termination characters: #

That’s it. Then when you want to make a Google Voice call, just pick anyone from your address book and choose CardKaller Call.

NOTE: We are still addressing navigation issues with 8900 Curve, Bold and Storm devices and should have a new build up soon. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Beta trial extended to March 31st

March 15th, 2009

We have extended the Beta Trial to March 31st in order to give us more time to receive feedback from testing.

To make downloading of the app easier, we will be posting an OTA version shortly. This will enable users to download the app directly from their device by clicking on a URL link.

The new build launched on March 9th corrected some issues experienced by users pertaining to installation and the need to hard reboot.

Issues we are currently working to address are:

  • Javascript error when dialing directly from phone
  • Inability to see navigation (cursor/status) on 8900
  • Possible hard reboot/rebooting issues on some devices
  • No feedback yet on the Storm

A glowing review was posted comparing CardKaller to a BerryDialer, similar piece of software.

New build uploaded

March 9th, 2009

We’ve uploaded a new build to correct the issues noted below. So hopefully this will avoid the user having to hard re-boot. Please give it a try and send us your feedback or post here:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/aftermarket-software/179701-cardkaller-beta-calling-card-dialer-app.html

The comments so far have been very positive. People seem to like the GUI and the advanced user setup. And we have received many ideas for improvements to the features.

Beta trial continues…

March 8th, 2009

The beta trial is humming along successfully.

We have received feedback so far on the following devices:

  • 8700
  • 8100 Pearl
  • 8310 Curve

We found that on some operating system versions, the user will need to hard reboot (remove battery, re-insert and bootup) after installation OR after unlocking the application with the activation key. Otherwise the app won’t work fully. We don’t know why and are working on solving this.

If anyone has the new BlackBerry Storm 9530 we are curious to get feedback from you.

Don’t forget that anyone who provides feedback during the beta test will receive a free unlocked copy of the software. So send us your comments at support@cardkaller.com

Beta trial launched

Ladies and gentlemen…after much eager anticipation, CardKaller 1.0 is finally ready for beta testing.

CardKaller is dialer software that makes it easy to use calling cards with your BlackBerry. The software automates dialing so that you can easily make long distance calls without having to remember calling card access numbers, PIN numbers or the phone number to be called.

How it works:

  1. Pick a contact from your BlackBerry address book
  2. Choose a calling card
  3. CardKaller does the rest

This project was conceived back in May 2008 when Aly found that he couldn’t make long distance calls and drive at the same time.  Some said he was just uncoordinated and a bad driver (thanks Julie!) but he blamed it on his blackberry’s lack of native support for calling cards. So he found Serge to develop the software and the rest is history.

Please give the new app a try and let us know your thoughts!

Anyone who provides feedback during the beta test will receive a free unlocked copy of the software. Please send your feedback to support@cardkaller.com
